Clean up after the dog without dirtying up the world
Out in the country a dog will go where a dog will go. And there’s nothing more natural than poop decomposing and turning into nutrients for the land. A dog does as all animals do in their natural habitat. Poop breaks down much faster in the natural environment than in a plastic bag.
But in town if a dog’s got to go, we’re going to have to clean up after him.
So we’ve all got used to carrying plastic dog waste bags on a lead or in our pocket.
This creates a paradox:
- if we pick up biodegradable dog waste, we’re cleaning up
- if we pick it up in a plastic bag, we’re creating non-biodegradable plastic waste
By picking up our dog’s poop in a plastic bag we’re creating a dirty, non-biodegradable package of what was biodegradable material. The plastic bag/s will be around for a long time with biodegradable material inside.
Using a biodegradable bag makes the whole package 100% compostable.
So we’re not creating plastic waste that will dirty up the planet every time we clean up after the dog.
I’ve been using Sustainable People compostable dog waste bags for some time. They do a great job of solving this sticky-stinky plastic problem.
They are:
- black (not transparent)
- well-made and strong
- made of 97% recycled plastic
- 100% compostable and biodegradable
- compost HOME certified at 20 – 30°C
As well as dog waste bags, The Sustainable People also make bioplastic compostable bin liners, rubbish bags, mailers and nets.
We can stop using plastic bags and start using compostable bioplastic bags, now.
